I need to transfer my domain name from one yahoo to either Godaddy or Justhost. What is the difference between these two? Can I just park a domain until I figure out what I want to do with it? Would Justhost be the best way to do that, or would Godaddy?
Chosen Answer:
Yes you can have a domain name with out having a website and hosting. And the domain can be registered at a different company than the hosting. Because a domain name is a web address and the hosting is the computers that the website is stored on you can transfer together or independently.
Now the best bet for incredible prices on domain names go with http://www.newinternetdomains.com because everyone elce’s prices are and have been going up.

When you transfer a domain name to a company, they will normally ‘host’ the domain, too.
When you transfer a domain to a company, they get administrative control of it but you can have a second company host the domain. Hosting a domain means that you are responsible for handing out DNS entries for the domain. When someone wants to view your website or send you an email, the DNS hosting company tells them where they need to go.
Your email / website can be with a totally different company, the DNS host will just point the DNS entries to them.
You can’t ‘park’ a domain as it has to be with one company or another.
You ask about ‘Hosting’ but this could either mean the DNS hosting or the web/email hosting so the question is a little vague. Hosting does not always, despite some of the other answers, mean the web space. A domain can be hosted, this is seperate to web hosting or email hosting.
When it comes to domains, you have a host, where your domain is registered through. You do not need to have it connected to hosting, which is referring to content stored on a server. You can easily park the domain at GoDaddy and several other locations. Many people prefer GoDaddy because they find it easy to manage. However, there are several cheaper options with more features. I personally recommend namecheap.com which has a variety of free options.
You can always have your domain and website hosting at different locations as well.
Blimey those are confusing answers!
Hosting is the service you buy that gives you space on a server where you website is held.
Transferring a domain is the process of moving your domain name from one nameserver to another.
That usually happens when you change your hosting from one company to another.
Hope that’s a bit clearer.
As I know godaddy is a good place to register domain names but many people have some problems with their web hosting plans.
As an experienced webmaster I recommend BH web hosting which I’m sure it would work for you and fulfill all your requirements. They have a really great offer for hosting & I have used them for over 3 yrs now, and have never had a single problem with them.

Hosting is the provision of webspace so that your domain appears as a site on the worldwide web. You don’t need hosting if you are going to ‘park’ your domain, but you must have a service that will ‘register’ your domain for you (regardless of whether you are ‘using’ it for a website)
You can use any registrant you want, some offer free email or email forwarding as part of the registration – that might be a added bonus.
To my scant knowledge, I had considered justhost to be a prime hosting service rather than a registration service, however I have used GoDaddy for registration only, and they have a pretty comprehensive service – it is very easy to park a domain with GD…
I wrote a short article about the difference between registration and hosting, and the different services I use – the link is below…
If you are going to move your domain registration service, you will need to get an unlock code form your current registrant (yahoo) and give it to your proposed new registrant – why not ask Yahoo how much they will charge you for parking your domain?

Firstly, let’s clarify the terms, domain name and web hosting. A domain name is essentially a web address to a website. A web host is the company that rents out web space for you to build a website. So, a domain name is a address to that web space you have rented.
For the sake of simplicity, there are two places you can transfer your domain name to: 1. Another domain name registrar, 2. Web host.
When you transfer your domain name to a different registrar, you retain control over your domain name. You can alter the DNS settings to reflect your web host’s nameservers. So there would be practically no need to transfer the domain name to your web host. DNS settings “tell” your domain name what website to show.
When you transfer your domain name to a web host, you lose administrative control over the domain name. Should you have problems with the web host, it might be troublesome to get your domain name back.
I would advise you to transfer your domain name to GoDaddy and alter your DNS settings to point it to JustHost’s nameservers.
